Samsung Loses Second Patent Lawsuit in Germany

By: Sarah Fitzpatrick |

Samsung has lost another round in its ongoing patent dispute with Apple in Germany. This time, the court ruled that Apple hadn't infringed a Samsung patent that the company was seeking to enforce against the company.

The two companies are engaged in a series of tit-for-tat patent lawsuits in the country, and elsewhere, over the design of the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet and patents used within their smartphones.

Samsung lost another patent dispute against Apple last week, and the decision on a third complaint is due in early March.

"We are disappointed that the court did not share our views regarding the infringement by Apple of this specific patent in Germany. We will wait for the written grounds of today's judgment, and after thorough review make a decision about a possible appeal to the Higher Regional Court Karlsruhe," a Samsung spokeswoman said in a statement.
